AN INTRODUCTION TO WORKING ON CAMERA WITH PUPPETS!
Puppetry is an exciting art form with endless possibilities! Get your arms up in the air and find out what goes into making magic for a television puppet show with professional puppeteers Brendan James Boyd and Reese Scott (Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock.) Participants will get to explore the style popularized by famous television series, by using a variety of puppet types to explore the possibilities, challenges and techniques used to create a convincing and captivating performance on camera.
INTRO TO BLACKLIGHT PUPPETRY
Black light theatre, AKA chaos in the dark, is a choreographed dance of bodies and puppets to make captivating and magical imagery come to life! In this workshop, the Puppet Stuff team will take you through the materials & methods used for creating neon moving magic! Each participant will get to make a unique “tube-man” puppet and learn how to work together with other puppeteers to bring them to life.
FOAM CARVED PUPPETS WORKSHOP
Let the foam fly! Ever wonder what techniques were used to make some of the most unique and iconic hand puppets of all time? Puppet Builder Brendan James Boyd will show you, as he walks you through carving a block of super soft foam to make an extremely flexible and expressive puppet head! The workshop includes demonstrations on finishing techniques (including the elusive flocking technique) and everything you need to know to finish your puppet at home.
SIMPLE PUPPET MECHANISMS WORKSHOP
Puppet Stuff’s mech master, Brendan James Boyd, will take you through assembly of your very own talking & yes/no mechanism using 3D printed components. Each participant will leave with their very own working mech that is suitable for a small rod puppet! The class includes demonstrations on various mechanisms and how they can be applied.
